Anambra
inaugurates LG caretaker committee
The Vanguard,
Wednesday, September 10, 2003
AWKA—THE
ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra has
inaugurated caretaker committees for the 21 local councils
in the state. Inaugurating the committees, the state
chairman of the party, Chief Dan Ulasi, enjoined the
various factions to put their differences behind them and
work toward the overall good of the party. Ulasi noted
that the appointments into the committees might not
satisfy the interests of all members of the party. But
with team work and equitable distribution of resources
aggrieved members would always retrace their steps, he
stated. The committees, which have between eight and 13
members, have three women members in each team.
The chairmen of the 21
local government committees include Chief S.N. Ofomata (Onitsha
South); Okey Odiari (Onitsha North);
Okwudili Okoli (Ogbaru);
Godwin Mbaneme (Oyi); Boniface Okoye (Ayamelum); Tony
Nwafor (Anambra West); and Emma Muofunanya (Anambra East).
Others are Edwin Edozie (Orumba South); C.N. Ezeibe (Orumba
North); Francis Egwim (Ihiala); Theo Nwora (Aguata); Felix
Okeke (Nnewi South); Agobi Egbuna (Nnewi North); and Dom
Ewuzie (Ekwusigo).
Also appointed
are Obi Arazu (Idemili South); Nneka Okwunze (Idemili
North); Patrick Enwesiobi (Awka North); Clement Ochefu (Awka
South); Nwachukwu Chiezie (Dunukofia); Isaac Ugo (Njikoka)
and Emma Oguaju (Anaocha). The committees would pilot the
affairs of the party until the conduct of fresh elections
into the various party positions at the local government
level. [OHP]
