SAMPLE LETTER

H.E. Dr. Chiwoke Mbadinuju
Governor of Anambra State
State House Awka
ANAMBRA, NIGERIA

Sir:

Deplorable Condition of Ogbaru Road (From Onitsha-Atani-Ossomala-Ogwu-Ikpele).

As an indigene of Ogbaru, I am writing to complain about the deplorable condition of the Ogbaru Road, which runs from Onitsha-Atani-Ossomala-Ogwu-Ikpele and could be extended into Rivers State. I urge you to quickly do something about this very neglected road.

In case Your Excellency dies not know, this neglected single carriage way could serve as an alternative to the Onitsha-Owerri-Port-Harcourt Federal High Way as the route that links up Ahoda, Omoku etc. This route criss-crosses the pockets of oil producing areas of Anambra State and upland Rivers State, with a lot of oil prospecting companies using the road.

As you are aware, Ogbaru Local Government Area remains one of the food baskets of Anambra State. A well-developed road in this area would be an asset to the Anambra Government and peoples in terms of food evacuation and distribution. There are also other possible gains and strategic interests. For instance, Ase –Azagba in Rivers State is a contiguous community to Ogwu-Ikpele in Ogbaru LGA. The distance between the two communities is just 2 kilometers. Should these two communities be linked by extending the Ogbaru Road, it would connect with the Ase-Azagba-Ahoda Road (which was built by Shell B.P.) to Port-Harcourt. The end product would be a faster, cheaper route to travel from Onitsha to Port-Harcourt, thus bypassing the hectic congestion of Onitsha–Owerri High Way. Such a road would also help attract investors in the oil sector, who would prefer to by-pass the troubled Delta region on their way to Rivers State.

With these facts at hand, I hope that you will give this request an urgent attention during your first term in office.

Yours truly,
